The FDI isolator cage is designed to raise groups of young chickens, turkeys or various waterfowl, isolated from the surrounding environment. The purpose of the isolator cage system is, (1) to prevent the spread of virus infection in one cage to adjacent cages, (2) to prevent the escape of contaminated cage exhaust air to the outside environment, (3) to raise birds according to existing Animal Care Guidelines. The isolator is equipped with HEPA filters on the supply and exhaust and can be set up for negative or positive airflow. The airflow is monitored by a manometer on each cage and can be regulated to meet the minimum of 12 – 15 AC/Hr, required by the Animal Care Guidelines. The blower is capable of exhausting up to 50 AC/Hr.
